MAKE UP FOR EVER ACADEMY CHARTER
GENERAL CONDITIONS AND RULES OF USE 2025-2026

1. GENERAL DEFINITION AND PURPOSE OF THIS CHARTER
The Academy Charter defines the rules of conduct for Trainees attending a training program.
This charter constitutes internal regulations as per article L 6352-3 of the Labor Code and governs the relationships of Trainees with the Academy as well as their interactions with each other.
"Trainee attending a training" refers to:

  • A student enrolled in a long-term professional training program (6 months, 9 months artistic option, 9 months cinema and prosthetics option, and 12 months) hereinafter referred to as "Trainee".
  • A student enrolled in an intensive training program, hereinafter referred to as "Trainee".

This charter applies to all Trainees regardless of their location, whether within the Academy (classrooms, common areas, etc.) or during external activities related to the training (internships, partner institutions, external visits, etc.).
Each Trainee enrolled in a long-term professional training program receives two (2) original copies of this charter no later than the first day of their training. One original copy must be returned to the Academy, initialed and signed by the Trainee.
Each Trainee enrolled in an intensive training program accepts the General Terms and Conditions of Sale and this charter during online registration by checking the corresponding box.

By signing this charter, the Trainee confirms having read and unreservedly accepted it.

The charter is also available for consultation in the Academy's premises. Trainees commit to respecting the rules applicable to partner institutions where part of the training may take place. The charter is supplemented by the General Terms and Conditions of Sale and the Trainee's intellectual property rights transfer agreement.
"Force majeure" refers to an event beyond the control of the Trainee or the Academy, which could not have been reasonably foreseen, and whose effects cannot be avoided with appropriate measures, as defined by article 1218 of the Civil Code. Examples of force majeure events include exceptional and unforeseeable severe weather, sudden floods, war, pandemics, public order disturbances, and government measures.

2. CLASS SCHEDULE AND TIMETABLE
The usual schedule for long-term professional training is: Monday to Friday: 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM and 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM.
The usual schedule for intensive training is: Monday to Friday: 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM and 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM.
Saturday to Sunday: 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM and 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM for weekend training.

The Academy reserves the right to modify class schedules and timetables at any time, with one day's notice to Trainees.
Occasionally, external activities (e.g., photo days, museum visits, guest speakers, etc.) may occur at different times.
The Academy opens its doors to Trainees 30 minutes before classes start. Trainees can take two 15-minute breaks at 10:30 or 11:00 AM for intensive training and at 3:30 PM.
Certain days may be dedicated to drawing, hairstyling, and shooting classes. The schedule will be communicated to Trainees during the training.
Access to the premises is strictly reserved for Trainees enrolled in long-term programs who can present a student ID or any valid document authorizing access to the Academy (invitation, etc.).
For security purposes, Trainees must be able to prove their status as Academy Trainees at any time while on the premises.
It is strictly forbidden for a Trainee to facilitate entry for unauthorized persons or to give up their place. Violating this rule may result in sanctions as outlined in article 12 of this charter.

3. ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURES
Trainees can submit all forms or administrative documents to be completed by the Administrative Office at the Academy reception:

  • To the attention of Katia BEDJA, Sales Assistant (bedjak@makeupforever.fr) for administrative documents;
  • To the attention of Léa BOUGON, Educational Coordinator (bougonl@makeupforever.fr) for documents related to absences (insurance certificates, absence justifications, etc.).

4. LATENESS AND ABSENCES
The goal of MAKE UP FOR EVER ACADEMY is to support Trainees in successfully completing their training under the best possible conditions.
Attendance and punctuality are crucial for their future professional activity and enhance the individual and collective learning experience:

  • Trainees must sign in every morning and afternoon.
  • Trainees must inform the Academy and justify any absence or lateness. Any unexcused lateness after the start of class at 9 AM or 10 AM for intensive training or at 1:30 PM will be considered an absence for that session (morning or afternoon).

Depending on the Trainee's arrival time, they may join the class during the next break (10:30-11 AM for intensive training/3:30 PM).
If the absence is due to illness, accident, or any other force majeure, the Trainee must present/send a medical certificate/justification within forty-eight (48) hours of the start of the absence period. Only medical certificates and, for long-term professional training, transport delay justifications (such as: SNCF/RATP certificate, screenshot of the SNCF/RATP account with a clearly visible date, photo of the platform display board with a timestamp) will be accepted if provided within the mentioned timeframe to justify an absence or lateness.

  • Except in cases of force majeure or emergencies such as a duly justified medical reason, early departures before the end of classes are not allowed.

Any lateness or absence must be reported to the Academy by phone at 01 56 45 11 12 or by email to Léa BOUGON, Educational Coordinator at bougonl@makeupforever.fr and academy@makeupforever.fr.
No make-up sessions will be provided by the trainers concerned.

5. TRAINEE BEHAVIOR

  • Trainees must follow the instructions given by trainers or speakers regarding their behavior, dress code, and hygiene rules.
  • Any deviant behavior, especially aggressive, offensive, contemptuous, discriminatory, or racist, whether verbal or physical, is prohibited in the Academy and may result in sanctions as outlined in article 12 of this charter. This also applies to bullying and harassment.
  • Trainees must actively respect and maintain the quality of their environment (limit noise levels, keep rooms clean and tidy, etc.) and strictly respect the premises and common areas. They must not loiter in front of the Academy entrances or litter cigarette butts.
  • Trainees must respect the work of trainers, speakers, and fellow Trainees by maintaining a calm, quiet, and serious attitude during the entire training, especially during demonstrations, theoretical classes, and practical sessions.
  • During classes (morning and afternoon), mobile phones must be turned off (or in airplane mode) or, with the trainer's or speaker's permission, in silent mode.
  • Eating during classes is prohibited.

Violating any of these rules may result in the Trainee being removed from the class and/or subject to disciplinary actions as outlined in article 12 of this charter.

6. SAFETY, INTEGRITY, AND CLEANLINESS OF PROPERTY
6.1. General Hygiene and Safety Measures

  • Trainees must keep the Academy clean (restrooms, kitchenette, lockers, classrooms), including the immediate surroundings (no cigarette butts at the entrance or trash in the street).
  • A refrigerator is available for Trainees. It will be emptied every Friday evening to prevent food spoilage and maintain hygiene.
  • Trainees are allowed to use classroom chairs during lunch but must return them to their place after meals.
  • Trainees must leave training rooms clean and tidy at the end of each class. They must clean their workstations daily (workstation and chair).
  • Trainees must not loiter in front of the Academy entrances or obstruct emergency exits.
  • Trainees must not store personal items or equipment/products on top of lockers.
  • Trainees must read the safety data sheets for using "dangerous" products.
  • During internships, Trainees are responsible for the equipment and products provided to them. This equipment must be cleaned and disinfected after each use and returned to its designated place.
  • Each Trainee is responsible for the products and equipment provided during training, especially if they are damaged or stolen; they must be replaced in such cases.
  • A "kits/products" responsibility system will be established at the beginning of the training. Each Trainee will be responsible, according to a pre-established schedule, for the order and cleanliness of the products and accessories used for makeup demonstrations and made available to Trainees, as well as the order and cleanliness of the various Academy rooms.

If, despite this organization, products are not kept clean and tidy or are damaged or stolen, including partial theft (e.g., Trainees using demonstration products to refill their own), the Academy may withdraw this provision for all Trainees.

  • The Academy does not provide general surveillance services and cannot be held responsible for theft or damage to Trainees' personal belongings/equipment within the Academy or during external internships. Trainees must be vigilant about their personal belongings and equipment and acknowledge that MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy cannot be held liable in this regard.

6.2 Smoking Ban

  • Smoking or vaping (including e-cigarettes) is prohibited in the Academy. Violators may face disciplinary measures as outlined in article 12 of this charter.

6.3 Alcohol and Drugs

  • It is forbidden to bring or distribute alcoholic beverages or any illicit substances in the premises.
  • No one is allowed to enter or remain in the Academy while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs.

Violators may face disciplinary measures as outlined in article 12 of this charter.
6.4 Animals

  • Animals are not allowed in the Academy. Exceptions may be made if a medical certificate justifying their necessary presence is provided.

6.5 Locker Room

  • Before each class, Trainees must leave their personal belongings (coats, jackets, etc.) in the designated area. The only items they may bring to class are: handbags, note-taking materials, cameras, and makeup products/equipment.
  • The Academy is not responsible for theft in the locker room. Trainees must take care of their belongings and not leave valuables unattended.

6.6 Sanitary Facilities

  • The Academy provides sanitary facilities for Trainees. These are cleaned daily and must be kept perfectly clean by Trainees.
  • Any Trainee who damages or soils these facilities may face disciplinary procedures as outlined in article 12 of this charter.

6.7 Accidents

  • Any accident occurring in the Academy or on the direct route between the Academy and the Trainee's home must be reported immediately to the Academy management. The same applies to Trainees on internships, who must also notify the concerned company.
  • The Academy is not responsible for accidents occurring during outings. Individual or group movements within the Academy must follow directions given by the responsible parties and must not disrupt other training sessions.

6.8 Miscellaneous
Trainees commit to:

  • Not engaging in any act, adopting any attitude, or displaying any behavior that could compromise the safety or integrity of other Trainees, trainers, speakers, or property, both within the training center and during external internships.
  • Immediately reporting any incident that could compromise the safety or well-being of everyone, whether caused by their own actions or witnessed.
  • SPECIFIC PROVISIONS FOR PROFESSIONAL CLIENTS AND STUDENTS (Pro Program): Professional Clients and Students benefit from a special discount subject to validation of their membership in the Pro Program. Products purchased under the Pro Program must be reserved for professional use only and are prohibited from resale. Any violation of the defined rules may lead to the removal of benefits granted to the account holder or the structure holding a Pro Account, without notice.

7. TRAINING ORGANIZATION

  • Demonstrations and theoretical classes will generally take place in the morning.
  • Practical classes will revolve around the demonstrations.
  • During practical classes for long-term professional training, Trainees will work in pairs. One Trainee will apply makeup while the other serves as the model, then they will switch roles.
  • During practical classes for intensive professional training, Trainees will work in pairs with a model that the Academy will try to provide.
  • In exceptional circumstances, a Trainee may be exempt from serving as a model (with a medical certificate, but the Academy is not obliged to find a replacement model).
  • Classes will not be recorded for replay or provided as educational documents, except for specific documents (color chart, Face Chart, etc.).
  • Recording the training sessions, especially demonstrations, is strictly prohibited unless expressly authorized by the instructor.
  • Publishing photos of teacher or guest demonstrations on any platform or media, especially social media, is strictly prohibited without prior permission from the instructor or guest and the model. With their written permission, the Trainee must clearly indicate the makeup artist's name and "MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy".
  • Taking or using products provided by the Academy outside of practice sessions is strictly prohibited.
  • Anyone needing to purchase products or equipment for their training can visit the Proloft store located within the Academy.
  • Throughout their training, Trainees can buy MAKE UP FOR EVER products at the Proloft store at a preferential rate by showing their student ID.
  • Throughout their training, all Trainees must use their own makeup kits while at the Academy (except for weekend intensive training where the Academy provides brush kits, which must be returned in full at the end of the class).

For long-term professional training, the list of required makeup kits (case, brushes, artistic products, and special effects products) is sent to all Trainees along with the official acceptance letter. Trainees are allowed to use products from other brands during practical sessions and exams.

  • The Academy may provide equipment (airbrush) for practice sessions upon presentation of a 100-euro deposit check, which will be returned if the equipment is returned in its original condition.

8. LONGUES EXTERNAL INTERNSHIPS FOR LONG-TERM PROFESSIONAL TRAINING

  • The training provided by the Academy will be complemented by internships at external partner companies. Trainees will have the opportunity to practice the makeup skills and techniques learned at the Academy.
  • These external internships, offered by the Academy, aim to help Trainees acquire additional skills and knowledge in a professional setting. All internships will be covered by an internship agreement between the employer, the Trainee, and the Academy.
  • Any Trainee who refuses one or more internship offers from the Academy without a valid reason will not be eligible for other offers from the Academy.
  • Since internships are reserved for a limited number of Trainees and vary depending on the nature of the internship, the Academy reserves the exclusive right to select the Trainees to whom internship offers will be sent.
  • In case of misconduct, serious fault, or inappropriate behavior by the Trainee at an internship site (as determined by the employer or the Academy), the Trainee may be excluded from the internship for an indefinite period.
  • The Academy must be informed as soon as possible of any personal reasons (illness, accident) that might interrupt the internship or make the Trainee unavailable. The Trainee must provide justification in such cases.
  • During internships, Trainees should use (as much as possible) only MAKE UP FOR EVER products and accessories (brushes, etc.) or products from other brands available in MAKE UP FOR EVER stores (e.g., Embryolisse).

8.1 Dress Code Requirements During Internships

  • Throughout the internship, the Trainee must exhibit exemplary behavior (good manners, care, politeness, and adherence to professional standards) in line with the image and reputation of the Academy and the MAKE UP FOR EVER brand.
  • During internships offered by MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy, Trainees must wear the black MAKE UP FOR EVER ACADEMY T-shirt received at the start of their training, along with a black skirt or pants and neutral shoes.
  • For external internships offered by MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy, Trainees must bring their own brushes, sponges, makeup removers, puffs, disinfectants, personal makeup palette, and the "personal" kit detailed in the supply list.
  • During external internships offered by MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy, the host partner will provide consumables such as tissues, cotton pads, makeup remover wipes, cotton swabs, and any other items specific to the internship. However, the Trainee may bring their own consumables as a precaution.
  • The necessary products for each internship are provided by the Academy and listed in an information sheet that Trainees receive before the internship.

8.2 Equipment Provision During Internships
In specific cases, the Academy may allow one or more Trainees to borrow certain MAKE UP FOR EVER products for which they will be responsible. The Trainee(s) must fill out a form specifying the conditions of the loan for the internship, including:

  • The dates and location of the internship, as well as the name(s) of the Trainee(s) enrolled.
  • The Trainee(s) are responsible for the products loaned to them for the internship.
  • An inventory of these products will be taken in the presence of the responsible Trainee(s) when the makeup kit is handed over.
  • These products must be returned to the Academy the day after the internship ends. Another inventory will be taken, again in the presence of the responsible Trainee(s).
  • If, during this second inventory, the Academy trainers or their representatives find any missing products, the responsible Trainee(s) must replace the missing products, unless the entire kit was stolen (the makeup kit itself), which must be reported to MAKE UP FOR EVER by the Trainee(s). Used products must be returned empty.
  • If multiple Trainees are enrolled in the same internship, they share joint responsibility for the products and must share the cost of replacing any missing items.
  • If the Trainee(s) refuse to pay for the necessary replacements, they will not be eligible for other internships.
  • Any behavior contrary to the rules outlined in this article may impact the Trainee's professionalism rating.

Procedure in Case of Theft at the Internship Site:

  • The Trainee must immediately inform their internship supervisor.
  • They must then inform the Academy without delay.
  • With the approval of the Academy's educational coordinator (or their representative), the Trainee must file a police report at the nearest police station to the internship site.
  • A copy of the police report must be sent to the Academy's responsible party.
  • All preparations related to products for internships must be done at the Academy and after class hours.

9. PHOTO DAYS, PORTFOLIO, EXAMS, AND CERTIFICATES – if applicable

  • The training fee does not include the printing of portfolio photos. Photos of the work done by Trainees during their training are sent to them digitally only.
  • Trainees are only allowed to post photos of the makeup they have done themselves during practical sessions or "photo days" on social media, provided they have obtained the express, prior, and written consent of the models and the photographer (if applicable).
  • Whenever images from "photo days" are published on any platform, they must include photo credits (names of the makeup artist, model, and photographer, as well as the hashtag #MakeUpForEverAcademy and/or @makeupforeveracademy).
  • Trainees will receive selected images from their "photo days" online. They will first receive retouched photos in digital format and high-resolution before printing for the final exam.
  • It is strictly forbidden to retouch and use photographers' photos commercially, under penalty of civil and criminal sanctions. Trainees are fully informed of this, and the aforementioned photos are provided to them for personal use only.

9.1. Access to "Photo Days"

  • A fixed number of "photo days" is planned for each training module, and this number is communicated to the Trainee at registration.
  • During these "photo days," each Trainee must create a set number of images, which varies depending on their training (6 months, 9 months artistic option, 9 months cinema and prosthetics option, and 12 months). The subjects are assigned and will be communicated in due training.
  • Each "photo day" will focus on a specific theme (or themes) that all Trainees must adhere to.
  • If access to a particular "photo day" is denied, it is the Trainee's responsibility to organize themselves to create the missing photos.

9.2. Grading
All Trainees are subject to continuous assessment throughout the training, as well as a practical exam and the creation of a photo portfolio graded by a jury of professionals.
The final exam is a comprehensive evaluation of the Trainee's learning, considering their technical and theoretical level, behavior, and attitude throughout the training. The following factors will be considered in the final exam grading:

  • Additional time allocated for individuals with disabilities,
  • Missing photos for certain themes in the final portfolio,
  • Disciplinary reasons, even if the portfolio contains the required number of photos,
  • Unjustified lateness or absences,
  • Any misconduct, serious fault, or inappropriate behavior by the Trainee at an internship site or during training,
  • Failure to meet deadlines, especially for submitting mock-ups and portfolios.

9.3. Certificates and Documents Issued After Training
Upon completion of certification training, a professional skills certification will be issued by MAKE UP FOR EVER ACADEMY to the Trainee, provided they adhered to the charter throughout the training and achieved sufficient results.
MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy will issue only one copy of the certification but can provide a certificate of achievement for up to ten years (for certifications issued from September 2019 onward).
For all training, a participation certificate will be issued to the Trainee by MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy (provided they adhered to the charter throughout the training). MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy will not keep any duplicates of this participation certificate.
MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy is not obliged to issue a participation certificate to a Trainee who abandoned the training or was frequently absent.

10. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY (copyright, name, logo)

10.1. Name and Logo
Except for work done as part of the training, it is forbidden to use the name and/or logo of MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy without prior express authorization. Requests should be addressed to the Academy director.
The use of the name and logo of MAKE UP FOR EVER or MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy is also prohibited, except when used on or alongside work done as part of the training and in accordance with the provisions of this charter.

10.2. Copyright
MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy provides Trainees with publications and educational resources protected by copyright law.
The use of these resources follows these rules:

  • Photocopies: They must be made in accordance with the conditions set by the documentation centers' regulations. Full reproduction of a work is prohibited without the author's consent. Copies made by a Trainee must be for private use only, excluding collective reprography or distribution via any medium (email, internet, etc.).
  • Distribution of Educational Documents: Educational documents provided to Trainees are for personal use and cannot be distributed outside the Academy.
  • Unless otherwise contractually agreed, the intellectual property rights to work created during the training by one or more Trainees are transferred to the Academy as they are created. The Trainee agrees to submit a signed original of the intellectual property rights transfer certificate attached to this charter.

11. REPRESENTATION OF TRAINEES IN LONG-TERM PROFESSIONAL TRAINING

  • The representation of Trainees in long-term training is ensured throughout the school year (6, 9, and 12 months) by at least one main delegate and one alternate delegate elected simultaneously by a two-round single-member ballot. All Trainees are both voters and eligible candidates. The election takes place within two months of the start of the school year. The Academy director (or their representative) organizes and oversees the elections.

12. DISCIPLINAIRES DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES
12.1. What is a "disciplinary procedure"?

  • It refers to any action taken by the trainers or Academy management (or their representative) in response to behavior or actions by the Trainee deemed inappropriate by the Academy. Such action may be immediate or not, depending on the severity of the behavior or action.
  • No disciplinary action can be taken if the Trainee has not been verbally informed of the complaints against them beforehand.

12.2. The Disciplinary Procedure
General Procedure:

  • Step 1: Trainers, Academy Management, or their representative give a verbal warning.
  • Step 2: Trainers or Academy Management (or their representative) summon the Trainee for a meeting, stating the purpose of the meeting.
    • Note: If the complaint involves verbal or physical disrespect towards a member of the MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy staff, another Trainee, a trainer, or a supervisor during an internship, the Trainee will be suspended from classes and training until the day of the meeting as outlined below.
  • Step 3: During the meeting, trainers or Academy Management (or their representative) explain the reasons for the proposed disciplinary action and listen to the Trainee's explanations.
  • Step 4: After the meeting, trainers or Academy Management (or their representative) will communicate their final decision to the Trainee by email within a maximum of one (1) week from the meeting.

No disciplinary action can be taken unless the accused party has been informed of the complaints against them.

Procedure Leading to Exclusion:
In any case, when the Director of MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy or their representative considers taking action that affects a Trainee's presence in a training program, the following procedure is followed:

  • Step 1: The Director of MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy or their representative summons the Trainee, stating the purpose of the summons. It specifies the date, time, and place of the meeting. It is written and sent by registered letter or delivered against receipt.
  • Step 2: During the meeting, the Trainee may be assisted by a person of their choice, including the delegate elected according to article 11 of this charter. The summons mentioned in Step 1 states this option.
  • Step 3: The Director of MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy or their representative explains the reason for the proposed disciplinary action and listens to the Trainee's explanations.

No sanction can be imposed less than one day or more than fifteen days after this meeting.
The decision is written, justified, and notified to the Trainee by email with acknowledgment of receipt or by registered letter with acknowledgment of receipt.
Exceptionally, an immediate exclusion sanction pending the above-mentioned meeting may be imposed depending on the severity of the alleged actions.
However, when the behavior necessitates an immediate temporary exclusion, no final sanction related to this behavior can be taken without following the above procedure.
The Director of the Academy informs the employer and/or funding organization of the sanction taken.

12.3. Nature and Scale of Sanctions

Any violation of the charter's clauses, or generally any unacceptable action, may result in one of the following disciplinary sanctions, listed in order of severity (from mild to severe):

  • Exclusion from one or more photo shoot days,
  • Exclusion from internships,
  • Written warning,
  • Temporary exclusion for 1 to 15 days,
  • Permanent exclusion from the Academy.

For reference, and not exhaustively, disciplinary procedures up to exclusion may be implemented for the following violations:

  • Theft (including partial or total theft of MAKE UP FOR EVER products),
  • Insults, discriminatory or racist remarks, or physical assault towards staff, any speaker, or another Trainee,
  • Any inappropriate, aggressive, offensive, contemptuous, violent, or intimidating behavior towards staff, any speaker, or another Trainee,
  • Deliberate damage to equipment,
  • Being in the Academy while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs,

13. PAYMENT OF FEES
Tuition fees must be paid according to the deadlines and amounts set during registration and in the General Terms and Conditions of Sale.

14. LIABILITY

As such, the Trainee must be able to provide proof of current liability insurance at any time during their training.
