In winter and early spring, applying makeup can be challenging due to the cold. Discover our tips.

Even though warmer days are coming, we still have to deal with cold and rain for a few more weeks. And when the weather is not great, applying makeup can be a hassle! Check out our tips and makeup techniques to enhance your look in winter!

Why Doesn't Makeup Always Last Well in the Cold?

Makeup routines change with the seasons. Trends differ in winter and summer, but that's not the only reason. Our skin's needs change with the seasons too.

In winter, our skin is duller due to less sunlight and becomes drier from daily aggressions like cold, rain, and wind. Makeup doesn't always last well in cold, windy weather.

The first simple step is hydration, inside and out. Here are our tips:

  • Drink 1.5 liters of water daily. If you don't like room-temperature water in winter, try comforting herbal teas.
  • Hydrate your skin every morning with a suitable product. Don't forget your eye contour and lips.
  • At night, apply a nourishing night cream. Your skin will be supple and plump by morning.

Luminous and Hydrating Makeup

In winter, brighten up with luminous makeup. The good news is, capturing light isn't too hard:

  • Use a satin rather than matte foundation, ideally hydrating.
  • For eyes, choose creamy eyeshadows. They last longer and hydrate. Opt for soft colors: pink, beige, apricot, peach… Say goodbye to gray days!
  • After hydrating lips, apply a satin lipstick in soft colors. You can use matte lipstick only if your lips are perfect. If chapped, avoid matte, as it highlights imperfections.
  • A few touches of highlighter will catch the light, even on the darkest days.

For evening, go for a bolder look, but still aim to capture light. Why not try some glitter at the corners of your eyes?

In winter, it's crucial to care for your skin and that of your model or client. Pamper it, and makeup will last better despite the weather. Plus, self-care in bad weather is great for morale.
