Are you wondering if makeup can help rejuvenate your eyes? Discover the tips from the MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy.

After 40, dark circles and fine lines begin to appear. Since it’s impossible to stop the passage of time, makeup can be a great solution to regain a younger-looking gaze.

Today, the MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy offers you some tips to rejuvenate your eyes through makeup!

A Fresh and Bright Eye After 40

Want to regain the look of your 20s? Even though makeup can give you a little boost, it’s not always enough. First and foremost, as time goes by, you need to take better care of your eyes:

  • Get enough sleep: Signs of fatigue can be hard to conceal. Try to sleep 7 to 8 hours a night to rest your eyes.
  • Apply a moisturizing and smoothing eye cream every morning: You only need a small amount—about the size of a grain of rice is sufficient to hydrate this particularly delicate area of your face.
  • Take the time to remove your makeup in the evening: If you go to bed skipping this step, you risk waking up with even more tired-looking eyes. After removing your makeup, don’t forget to apply eye cream!

Some Makeup Tips for a Younger-Looking Eye

How should you apply eye makeup after 40? Are there tricks to rejuvenate your gaze with makeup? Don’t worry, we’ll explain everything about eye makeup!

Here are some tips from the MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy:

  • Be mindful of the textures of the makeup products you use: For example, avoid cream textures that tend to settle into the creases of fine lines and dark circles. Opt for lighter, thinner textures instead.
  • Matte eyeshadows are great at 20... but much less so after 40. Choose satin eyeshadow to bring light to your gaze. You can also add a touch of highlighter for extra freshness.
  • What about the color of the eyeshadows? It’s better to choose shades that won’t harden your facial features. Soft pinks, beiges, browns, and khakis are perfect for softening your gaze.
  • Apply makeup to the upper eyelid, but skip the lower eyelid: This can create a tired look, so there’s no need to put mascara or pencil on the lower lashes.
  • As we age, lashes become sparse: Choose a mascara that lengthens and volumizes your lashes. You can also consider false eyelashes. There are very natural lash extensions that will add intensity to your gaze.
  • Pay special attention to your eyebrows: They give character to your gaze. If you find them too light or sparse, don’t hesitate to use an eyebrow pencil. The result should remain natural, so apply it lightly.
