TRAINING DETAILS

In this "Professional Makeup Artist - Cinema & Prosthetics Option" training, every brushstroke creates different characters and worlds, from beauty makeup suited for cinema to the creation of fantastic creatures. At the MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy, the magic of cinema comes to life!

After 6 months of learning and mastering Beauty, Fashion, and Television makeup, you will spend 3 months creating makeup for fiction: from creating stunning special effects to applying custom prosthetics. Every week, you will dive into the world of contemporary and historical makeup adapted to the cinema and its 4K cameras. You will explore various techniques: aging, airbrush, makeup/no makeup, and the art of prosthetic creation (molding, sculpting, casting, application, etc.).

Your day at the Academy? Each morning, study the essentials: morphology, colorimetry, skin types — interactive and visual basics to understand and analyze. Then, head to the demonstration: a teacher uses the brush, showing you each gesture, each technique. And in the afternoon, it's your turn. On models or even on yourself, you practice and refine your skills with personalized guidance. Corrections, group debriefs, we push you to give your best.

Objectives & Context

The Professional Makeup Artist training with a specialization in Cinema and Special Effects Makeup leads to a Level 4 Professional Certificate recognized by the RNCP (RNCP40587 by decree of 04/30/2025, valid for 5 years until 04/30/2030).

This professional certification validates the essential technical and artistic skills needed for a career as a professional makeup artist, as well as the necessary entrepreneurial abilities. In addition to these skills, a professional makeup artist must also possess a high degree of adaptability to meet the specific demands of different industries.

A professional makeup artist undertakes a variety of tasks, from enhancing a face for imaging purposes to creating looks and characters for audiovisual productions, live performances, or event-related services.

TARGETED ACTIVITIES:

  • Define your entrepreneurial project: manage and organize activities and design a mood board
  • Create your commercial profile: develop a photo portfolio and enhance your commercial profile
  • Analyze client needs and define the service budget
  • Execute makeup services independently
  • Perform as part of a team (identify and complete tasks)
  • Specialize in beauty makeup for sales and consulting: execute professional makeup services, sell, and consult
  • Specialize in cinema and special effects: prepare and plan interventions on film shoots, create special effects makeup on set, perform emergency makeup touch-ups, and manage and follow through on cinema makeup services (customize the service and adapt to the service environment).

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

After the Academy, you will be ready to work on movie sets, backstage of TV series, or join the most innovative special effects teams. Your first experiences will be with us, on real projects during field practices and with our guest experts specializing in Cinema Makeup. Imagine transforming actors for a blockbuster. With concrete experiences and a complete portfolio, you will have all the keys to succeed in this industry.

EMPLOYABILITY RATES:

  • Employment rate 6 months after training: 64.2% employed in the certified field 6 months after certification.
  • Employment rate 2 years after training: 62.1% employed in the certified field in the medium and long term (between 3 months and 1 year after certification).

Rates calculated based on RNCP survey results from training sessions between September 2022 and March 2024.
