MAKE UP IS ART

To celebrate European Artistic Crafts Day, MAKE UP FOR EVER ACADEMY highlights the profession of professional makeup artist. It's often misunderstood, but it includes many specializations.

• Beauty Makeup

The most well-known specialization is beauty makeup. This includes making people look their best for events like weddings. Makeup artists in this field mainly do daytime and evening makeup for individuals, adapting to their requests, face shape, and personality.

• Fashion Makeup

Makeup artists specializing in fashion mainly work on models during fashion shows or photoshoots. They are guided by the brand's artistic direction.

• Television Makeup

Makeup for TV is very different from regular beauty makeup. It must be adapted for 4K cameras to look perfect on screen. Makeup artists use MAKE UP FOR EVER products from the HD line, which are invisible to 4K cameras and the naked eye. Some makeup artists specialize in television makeup, working for major media networks or within a show.

• Film/Stage Makeup

Whether on a film set or a theater stage, makeup brings characters to life. Aging a character, applying prosthetics, accentuating facial features – anything is possible! The professional makeup artist applies makeup to actors, considering the camera, the need for long wear, and the artistic direction.

• Artistic Makeup

Artistic makeup comes in different forms: body painting, face art, trompe l’oeil, using shadows and light. It requires a very good understanding of face and body shapes, as well as art history and artistic movements. Artistic makeup is very detailed work, requiring a lot of creativity.

LVMH INSTITUTES FOR EXCELLENCE

The LVMH Institute for Excellence aims to preserve and promote the expertise of the crafts of Creation, Craftsmanship, and Customer Experience. In 2021, the profession of professional makeup artist joined the 200+ professions recognized by LVMH's Métiers d'Excellence.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy offers training to become a Professional Makeup Artist. It is possible to specialize, such as in event, stage and artistic makeup or cinema/prosthetics.
